Bound. | Springboard 2022choreographed, conceptualised and created by: Alexis Elyzia Henry, Rai Crabtree, Rianna Corben, Charlotte Taylor, Amber Collins & Tilly Skates.
in collaboration with Roche Court Sculpture Park.
Inspired by Antony Gormley's sculptures Break and Before, this choreography entitled Bound. focuses on the intense and intricate process of creating these sculptures in which Gormley's body was wrapped and casted through a process called life casting. This creation process sparked a key interest in the use of breath and the physicality of brushing and wrapping the body which quickly became a key feature as integral motifs within the work.
Performed in June 2022.
Video by Dan Tucker.
Performed as part of Art University Bournemouth's Springboard 2022.
Dancing Alongside: Rai Crabtree, Tilly Skates, Rianna Corben, Charlotte Taylor & Amber Collins.

Created in the first year of our degree, this work was our first taste of exploring all the individual elements that make up a performance piece independently. Getting to work through all the constituent features ourselves, whether that be lighting, projection, costume, soundscape ect. this work truly ignited a spark in me for creating work from the initial research all the way up to performing the finished product. We created such a fun working rehearsal space where we were really open to all avenues of exploration which led us to tying ourselves together with elastic and trying to break free from cling film. The experimental element of this piece is truly what brings it to life. Alongside this, getting to work with Roche Court and Laura Joy was so wonderful. It meant we could thread our piece together with real ties to Antony Gormley’s work, tying in little anecdotes such as when the phone rings at the end of the piece - this moment is derived from a story Laura told us on our initial visit about how the phone rang one time when Gormley was life casting. I’m so grateful for this project and all it led me on to do. The perfect conclusion to my first year at University.
